戦国時代から伝わる焼き物「萩焼」 Traditional pottery "Hagi ware"

益田市から少し離れた山口県萩市には、戦国時代から伝わる伝統的な焼き物 ”萩焼”があります。

 安土桃山時代、茶の湯が大きく発展したため茶器の需要が高まりました。
そのため豊臣秀吉が朝鮮に出兵したとき、多くの朝鮮の陶工を日本に連れて帰りました。
その後、有田焼など有名な陶器が次々に誕生しました。
そして萩藩の開祖である毛利輝元が今の萩焼を始めました。

 In Azuchi-Momoyama period, demand of tea sets were surprisingly in demand because the tea ceremony had been extremely developed.  
Hideyosi Toyotomi who was a ruler at that time took potters from Korean peninsula after his battle against Korea. 
After that, famous potteries like Arita appeared in some areas in Japan. 
One of that is Hagi ware which was started by Mouri Terumoto who founded Hagi Domain.

萩焼の特徴は、原料の土です。土が粗いため浸透性・保水性・保温性に優れており、使うたびに器の色合いが変化するため「萩の七化け」と呼ばれています。
現在、その特徴を存分に活かした陶器が "萩陶苑" という会社でたくさん製造されているそうです‼️

One of the features of Hagiyaki is the soil as the raw material. 
The coarse soil is good at permeability, water holding property and heat retaining property. 
Also, colors of potteries are changed when you use them every time. 
This change is called ''the seven common disguises of Hagi ". 
Lately,  a ware company “Shutoen” produces many potteries that have the unique features of Hagi ware.
